About the role

Electrical Hardware Engineer role at Seeing Systems, a defense-focused startup building modular AI-driven drones. Hands-on hardware engineering across aircraft and ground stations, from schematic to flying boards, with ownership of subsystems and field-ready results.

Responsibilities

  • Design PCBs for defined subsystems: sensor boards, power distribution, BMS, payload interfaces, and supporting electronics
  • Own board bring-up and debug for subsystems: soldering, rework, test fixtures, fault-finding down to component level
  • Support schematic capture and layout across the hardware stack, including reviews, signal and power integrity checks, and documentation
  • Design and build harnessing: connector selection, wiring, and integration of electronics into airframes and ground station hardware
  • Support RF and wireless testing: telemetry, video downlink, and C2 range testing in the field
  • Run test campaigns with the testing lead: aircraft preparation, data capture, logging failures, feeding findings into revisions
  • Work with manufacturers on quotes, DFM feedback, and incoming inspection as production scales
  • Use AI tools to accelerate design, firmware, and debug

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on electrical or electronics engineering experience (professional or equivalent portfolio)
  • PCB design experience in Altium or KiCad - taken at least one board from schematic to fabricated, working hardware
  • Solid grounding in analog, digital, and power electronics fundamentals
  • Bench adept: soldering (including fine-pitch rework), oscilloscopes, multimeters, and methodical fault-finding
  • Comfortable bridging bench results to field-range operation
  • Bias toward shipping
  • Willingness to test in real-world environments with the team

About Seeing Systems

Modular AI-Commanded Drones for Defence

We're building inexpensive, autonomous strike drones designed to stay operationally relevant as warfare evolves. By combining true hardware modularity with an agentic control system that lowers cognitive load on operators, we enable faster upgrades, broader adoption, and more than 2x reduction in lifecycle cost. Our customers and partners include the UK Royal Marine Commandos, several other units in the UK, and 4 other NATO forces, and we are currently shipping prototypes for iterative feedback. Think of us as Anduril, but with worse weather, and better banter.
