About the role

Lead a team of Linux kernel engineers focused on core CPU and SOC features for AMD EPYC processors, covering Memory Management, Scheduler, and Power Management, with pre-silicon validation, performance optimization, and QA practices to ensure upstream-ready production quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Linux kernel engineers, including hiring, coaching, performance management, planning, task prioritization, and status communication.
  • Drive features across core kernel subsystems—Memory Management, Scheduler, and Power Management—and own the QA strategy to ensure robust, well-tested, upstream-ready contributions.
  • Lead pre-silicon validation of new AMD hardware, drive performance optimization, and resolve internal and customer debug issues.
  • Guide code review, unit and integration test development, and detailed documentation.
  • Collaborate with remote engineering staff across India, the U.S., and Europe, and represent team priorities across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant field
  • Proven record of technical and team leadership, including people management and collaboration with remote, geographically distributed teams
  • Solid understanding and experience with the Linux kernel and related upstream development workflow, including one or more of Memory Management, Scheduler, and Power Management subsystems
  • Experience defining and driving Quality Assurance practices for kernel or systems software (test development, CI, performance and regression testing)
  • Experience with pre-silicon validation and with internal and customer debug
  • Experience with performance optimization—running, analyzing, and tuning system performance benchmarks
  • Background in C programming for operating system kernel and systems development is useful; hands-on development is not a primary function (Rust a plus)
  • Experience with open source software development—patch submission on mailing lists, working with external partners and communities
  • Deep understanding of operating systems concepts, data structures, and x86-64 architecture
  • Exposure to KVM/QEMU (including x86-64 virtualization extensions) a plus
  • Experience with the GNU toolchain and proficient use of git
  • Experience with low-level debug tools, emulators, and simulators
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a matrix-managed, fast-paced, quality-driven, and innovative engineering organization
