Sr. Engineering Leader: Developer SDKs for Embedded Markets
Hybrid (San Jose / Santa Clara, CA and Austin, TX)$275.2k - $412.8kFull-timePosted 3mo ago
About the role
Senior engineering leader responsible for defining, building, and scaling a portfolio of SDKs for embedded/edge markets, with end-to-end ownership of architecture, roadmap, packaging, tooling, documentation, and ecosystem enablement across video analytics, real-time dataflow, and distributed compute/middleware.
Responsibilities
- Define the end-to-end SDK architecture for functionalities including video analytics pipelines, high-speed graph runtimes, real-time communication and sensor data passing, multimedia framework integration, vision pipelines with OpenCV ecosystems, and ROS2-adjacent abstractions.
- Own system design for heterogeneous sensor ingestion (cameras, radar, lidar, IMU, audio, encoders, industrial sensors) including time synchronization and deterministic pipeline behavior under load.
- Ensure SDKs support mixed-criticality systems with real-time determinism, isolation, safety/fault containment, and efficient memory/bandwidth usage across CPU/GPU/DMA/zero-copy paths.
- Deliver SDKs with exceptional developer experience: simple APIs, strong defaults, thorough documentation, tutorials, reference apps, and advanced tooling (profiling, tracing, visualization, replay).
- Create and enforce packaging/distribution strategy: versioning (semantic), long-term support, container images, cross-compile toolchains, reproducible builds, and multi-OS support.
Qualifications
- Experience building cohesive developer SDKs and leading global engineering teams.
- Proven track record delivering production-grade developer SDKs: APIs, samples, docs, packaging, release management.
- Deep technical expertise in video analytics pipelines, multimedia frameworks, graph runtimes/dataflow engines, distributed systems & communication middleware, real-time systems, OpenCV integration, and heterogeneous compute optimization across CPU/GPU/NPU.
- Experience building SDKs for embedded/edge markets (robotics, industrial, automotive, medical)
- ROS2 ecosystem and autonomy stack integration
- Time synchronization and multi-sensor fusion plumbing
- Safety/certification adjacent practices
- Developer tooling (profilers, trace analyzers, graph visualizers, pipeline debuggers)
- Collaboration with silicon/hardware teams for platform entitlement
