About the role
Power systems architect leading cross‑functional Mac system power delivery architecture, driving new product definitions and PMIC/DC-DC/AC-DC architectures to improve performance, power, thermal, size, and cost.
Responsibilities
- Lead core architecture and technology investigations by evaluating options with technical rigor, optimizing power metrics such as system performance, efficiency, power density, cost, carbon footprint, and scalability.
- Must be intimately familiar with DC-DC, DC-AC, and AC-DC voltage regulator topologies and architectures, magnetic design, PCB layout, and techniques for integration and efficiency optimization.
- Define requirements for PMICs and collaborate with internal design teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality silicons on tight schedules.
- Possess knowledge of mixed-signal silicon processes, methodologies, design tools, verification tools, and back-end flows.
- Provide design simulations, calculations, and analytical models to predict design outcomes (control loop stability, transient responses, layout analysis, parasitics).
- Perform and guide peak power measurements on device hardware to validate power models.
- Author system architecture specifications and block diagrams; conduct reviews with product teams; align with internal SoC teams on future requirements.
- Ensure smooth handoff of architectures to execution teams including risk assessments and proof-of-concept documentation.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Qualifications
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Core competence in power electronics design and analysis for computing systems targeted for high-volume production.
- Strong technical breadth across CPU, GPU, storage, memory, power delivery, power management, networking, I/O, and thermal management.
- Solid understanding of mixed-signal silicon processes, design methodologies, and tools.
- Ability to create, review, and approve engineering requirement specification documents.
- Strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for communicating with leadership.
