About the role

Data Center Construction Project Manager responsible for leading development and delivery of mission-critical data center construction projects within Apple’s US-based campuses. Coordinates with Real Estate, Legal, Design, EH&S, Energy, Construction, Network and Data Center Engineering & Operations to manage live production environments and new construction efforts across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of development for data center construction projects
  • Lead multiple projects including equipment upgrades and modifications within live data center production environments in parallel with new construction efforts
  • Coordinate with project partners from Real Estate, Legal, Design, EH&S, Energy, Construction, Network and Data Center Engineering & Operations
  • Lead General Contractors (GC) through competitive bidding and negotiation
  • Review proposals, change orders, and prepare comparative cost analyses
  • Manage commissioning agents and review sequence of operations and test scripts
  • Build and maintain project budgets and secure internal approvals for capital funding
  • Meet with internal strategic engineering groups, operations and business units to determine detailed project requirements
  • Drive internal and external partners to meet deadlines per project delivery schedule
  • Represent Apple’s interests at meetings with Consultants, General Contractors, and Suppliers
  • Read and interpret design and construction drawings across all fields
  • Coordinate with local utilities for power or utility infrastructure
  • Ensure health, safety and environmental considerations throughout project lifecycle

Qualifications

  • 8+ years demonstrated experience as a data center construction project manager (data center, mission-critical facilities, Semiconductor or similar)
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading and supporting architects, engineers, and specialty consultants from programming to construction completion
  • Strong background in data center/commercial/industrial/mission critical construction including MEP systems, tenant improvements TI, site work and ground-up construction
  • Skilled in reading design and construction drawings for all trades
  • Experience with power or utility infrastructure coordination to site
  • Ability to represent Apple professionally in meetings with Consultants, GCs, and Suppliers
  • Experience driving both internal and external partners to meet deadlines
  • Experience in budgeting and capital funding approvals
  • Experience in reviewing contracts and terms related to cost and deliverables
  • Experience reviewing change orders and conducting cost analyses
  • Experience managing commissioning processes and test scripts
