Mechanical Engineer role at Foundation Industries, a YC-backed company building a physical API for manufacturing infrastructure with a focus on CNC machining of critical components. Role involves learning CNC machining, running parts end-to-end, and building automations for CAM and production workflows.
Responsibilities
- Learn the fundamentals of CNC machining
- Run parts end-to-end: CAM programming, setup, and production
- Surface friction in current process: programming workflows, tool management, materials, inspection, etc. Work with software team to turn frictions into platform features
- Longer-term: Build workflow automations for CAM generation
- Automate DFM feedback on uploaded customer CAD files
- Contribute to onboarding curriculum and facility playbooks that turn tribal knowledge into systems
Qualifications
- A degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent hands-on background
- Proficient in CAD and eager to learn CAM and CNC from the ground up
- Ready to grind on the facility floor
