Mechatronics Engineer – Tooling & Production Equipment
Paris, OrlyFull-timePosted 2mo ago
About the role
Mechatronics Engineer responsible for tooling and production equipment at the Wissous production plant, from jigs and fixtures to full automated cells, contributing to a greenfield drone production facility with a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design production jigs, fixtures, and manual tooling (assembly jigs, positioning fixtures, control/inspection tooling) under SolidWorks, from concept to manufacturing-ready 3D models and drawings.
- Produce full technical documentation: manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, and assembly/use instructions for each tool.
- Integrate ESD, operator safety, and ergonomics requirements into every tooling design.
- Design the mechanical elements of automated cells and equipment (frames, supports, motion axes, grippers/end-effectors, guarding, enclosures) under SolidWorks.
- Select and size mechanical components (linear guides, actuators, couplings, transmission elements) for reliability and maintainability in continuous production use.
- Collaborate with Auto & Digital pole to integrate mechanical designs with sensors, actuators, pneumatics, and controls.
- Support commissioning and debugging of equipment on the shop floor, iterating quickly on feedback from the line before release for production use.
- Work with Industrialisation Engineers and Methods Engineers to define tooling and equipment needs and challenge proposed technical solutions.
- Proactively identify and propose improvement opportunities on production lines — cycle time, ergonomics, tooling/equipment reliability.
- Communicate and collaborate with Industrialisation, Methods, and Automation teams.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree in mechanical design, mechatronics, industrial engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong 3D design experience with SolidWorks.
- Experience designing jigs, fixtures, or industrial tooling — ideally in a series production environment.
- Working knowledge of automation side of mechatronics: sensors, actuators, basic pneumatics/electrical integration for clean integration with control systems.
- Autonomous and resourceful, able to operate in an agile, fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality.
- Clear communicator, able to interface with Industrialisation, Methods, and Automation teams.
- Good communication in French and English.
- Hands-on mindset; comfortable on the shop floor.
