About the role
Lead the diagnostics software effort for AMD’s SoC products, owning end-to-end quality, coverage, and validation for diagnostics software across pre-silicon to post-silicon stages, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet program milestones and drive feature coverage and performance goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end ownership of the quality, coverage and completeness of Diagnostics software solution to AMD Client, Graphics and Embedded
- Highlights project goals, strategies, risks, and key requirements of Diagnostics, tools and framework to help PMs, Managers, IP validation architects and Framework architects to create the software test plan.
- Study new features and new IPs in next gen SoC product and train software engineers for designing and developing new diagnostic cases
- Driving the technical requirements to achieve the feature coverage and hardware bug capture targets through the diag cases.
- Owns the SoC system level feature validation methodology and planning, including the multi-IP use cases verification, system level power/ performance evaluation and stress test etc.
- Owns the Diagnostics pre-silicon emulation strategy and planning across Simnow, FPGA and Emulation models, including the RTL coverage requirements before silicon tape out, Diagnostics verification strategy and requirement before silicon back.
- Collaborate with global cross functional teams to achieve the key program milestones, such as bring up, all features enablement, performance profiling, production support etc., with desired coverage metrics from Diagnostics.
- Forward thinker to improve feature coverage model, test time reduction, development process and drive innovation.
- Lead the resolution of critical technical challenges, including complex issue debugging and triage. Guide Diags IP and release engineers in root-cause analysis and test coverage enhancements
Qualifications
- Significant firmware or software development experience, with close interaction with hardware or product engineering team.
- Excellent understanding of processors based on SoC architecture, including processor, system IO, memory, engine IP (e.g. graphics, display, video codec etc.), security block, to identify the critical areas for focus of SoC & IP verification.
- Strong system level debugging and testing skills, and capability to quickly identify problems and provide robust solutions.
- Strong Linux environment programming knowledge, including device driver, user space programming, shell scripts, GCC/Clang toolchains, etc.
- Rich knowledge with x86 CPU architecture and programming skills. Or strong discreate graphics software development.
- Strong mix of large-scale firmware or software development ability and hardware understanding.
- Experience with BIOS, GPU, PCIe, DDR, PMU, RAS firmware development is a plus.
