About the role

Senior software engineer role in Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization, focused on building and maintaining highly scalable, low-latency, distributed enterprise platforms within Enterprise Technology Services (ETS). Responsible for planning, design, architecture contributions, and delivering new functionality for core enterprise applications supporting identity, device security, anti-abuse, supply chain, manufacturing, and activations.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and design of new functionality for a high-performing, low-latency enterprise application.
  • Contributing to architecture of core functionality and future planning.
  • Shipping products with emphasis on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Balancing feature development with optimization of inner loops as needed.
  • Collaborating across teams and communicating effectively; thriving in ambiguity.
  • Delivering high quality work with unit and integration tests.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience developing Java/J2EE applications with focus on reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Excellent Java development experience – full stack engineer preferred
  • Solid understanding of object oriented techniques, algorithms, Java design patterns and reusable component design
  • Hands-on experience with building and maintaining distributed WebServices based on SOA methodologies
  • Expertise with Oracle database: design schemas, write and tune SQL, develop PL/SQL, debug performance issues and optimization
  • Experience with Oracle failover and replication strategies
  • Experience designing features to be bullet-proof and low maintenance
  • Proven track record of completing projects on-time and to specification
  • Strong analysis, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Leverage enterprise messaging using EAI/JMS
  • Experience with React and knowledge of web vulnerabilities (XSS, CSRF)
  • Designing & deploying Cloud-native applications with Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with build and software delivery systems
  • BS / MS in Computer Science or equivalent
