About the role

Senior Application Engineer responsible for end-to-end Apollo demonstrations for executives, VIP visitors, and events, including design, build, and operation of robot behaviors and workcell environments to showcase Apollo in line with customer workflows and real-world problems.

Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder alignment with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to define objectives and success criteria for high-priority visits; create concise briefs for internal alignment.
  • Serve as the definitive technical voice on Apollo's demonstrable capabilities and shape stakeholder expectations.
  • Translate visit objectives into audience-driven scenario designs grounded in customer problems and workflows.
  • Design demonstration scenarios with clear requirements, success criteria, risk assessment, and reproducible architecture.
  • Define comprehensive fallback architectures and failure-mode mitigation strategies for live demonstrations.
  • Build and maintain demonstration-specific simulation environments (NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo) for pre-live validation.
  • Develop, configure, and tune demo applications and robot behaviors; reuse production-grade software where possible.
  • Own the Apollo demonstration workcell at the California office, including hardware configuration and staging.
  • Drive demonstration readiness via rehearsals, testing, and issue tracking; collaborate with engineering teams to resolve problems.
  • Own runs of show during live demonstrations, provide presenter support, and perform post-demonstration reviews to capture outcomes and feedback.
  • Lead or support demonstrations at trade shows, industry events, and customer sites; potential high-profile demonstrations at HQ in Austin; travel 20–40% domestically and internationally.
  • Manage multiple demonstration requests concurrently; plan rehearsals and coordinate resources across visits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 4+ years in a customer-facing engineering role with proven independent ownership of high-stakes demonstrations or deployments of mobile robotic systems end-to-end.
