About the role
Senior engineer to design and build performance insights, observability systems, and data lake infrastructure for CoreWeave's AI infrastructure, enabling real-time and historical visibility across GPUs, interconnect fabrics, and distributed workloads.
Responsibilities
- Performance Insights & Observability - Design and build systems that continuously assess AI infrastructure health and performance across GPUs, interconnects, distributed training and inference.
- Time-Series & Metrics Infrastructure - Own and extend the time-series database layer; write/optimize PromQL/MetricsQL queries; bridge streaming metrics with batch workloads for live incidents and historical analysis.
- Fabric & GPU Telemetry - Build pipelines and metrics for observable network fabric and GPU behavior across racks/clusters/hardware generations, including anomaly detection and health scoring.
- Data Lake Architecture (in support of insight work) - Design and build a performance data lake with table formats (Iceberg, Parquet, Avro), tiering, and schema evolution for latency distributions and hardware health signals.
- Query Optimization & Performance - Profile and tune query engines for low latency and freshness SLAs; benchmark the benchmarking infrastructure.
- BI & Reporting (secondary) - Build self-service views (Grafana, Looker) as downstream outputs of the observability work.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building distributed systems, observability platforms, or performance engineering tooling (preferably for infrastructure or ML systems).
- Strong coding in Python or Go (C++ a plus).
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes at production scale, CI/CD, and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Working knowledge of time-series databases and fluency in PromQL/MetricsQL for real-time alerting and anomaly detection.
- Familiarity with data lake architectures and table formats (Iceberg, Parquet, Avro).
- Comfortable working close to hardware and workload behavior (GPU utilization, interconnect health, distributed training/inference).
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
