About the role

Role within the Datacenter Graphics and Accelerated Computing (DCGPU) organization focusing on bring-up, support, and debugging of complex system/SOC problems in a lab environment. Involves deploying pre-production platforms, test stations, triage, debug, board reworks, and integration of automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Setup hardware to facilitate remote/local test execution and user defined workloads in the DCGPU validation lab
  • Own initial troubleshooting and debug of a wide variety of system, firmware, or software issues while maintaining the integrity of development systems
  • Reproduce issues and validate fixes identified by DCGPU platform leads and chief engineers
  • Provide logs and statistics to aid further debug of issues
  • Integrate automated testing in CI/CD environment (e.g. Jenkins, Ansible)
  • Work within a managed ticketing system and communicate clearly on steps/activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Associate Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering Preferred
  • Technical College Degree with specialization in HW deployment
  • Proven test bench setup experience with expertise in embedded systems
  • Able to read and interpret board schematics
  • Software Programming and scripting experience (Python, bash, C/C++) in Windows and Linux operating systems
  • PC/server environment hardware/software setup and administration
  • Basic network topology skills, understand AMD IT infrastructure
  • Comfortable working in Windows and Linux environments
  • Excellent soldering skills, board rework
  • Experience with HW and SW fault detection and management
  • Experience with power supplies monitoring and sequencing
  • Proficient in fundamentals of power electronics with emphasis on multiphase power converters
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multi-meters, current probes, electronic loads, protocol analyzers; ability to reason through results
  • Proficient at documenting experimental results in a structured manner
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software architecture (driver/bios)
  • Ability to set up hardware and build computer systems
  • Logic-based triage/debug decision making
  • Test automation experience using Perl/Tcl/Python/LabView
  • Strong teamwork and communication; self-starter with minimal supervision
  • Bonus: familiarity with low-speed protocols (I2C, Redfish, IPMI, SPI, I3C, SVI2, SVI3) and high-speed protocols (PCIe Gen 5)
