About the role

Role focused on designing and developing Apple's perimeter security solution, with a focus on scalable platforms, data pipelines, micro-services, and security-related features. Hands-on back-end engineering leader responsible for control plane of security platform, data architecture, platform reliability, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering Leadership: Lead the architectural design and implementation of scalable, low-latency batch and real-time data pipelines to aggregate, process, and analyze massive volumes of security data.
  • Platform Engineering Leadership: Architect, deploy, and scale highly resilient micro-services and platform infrastructure supporting mission-critical, customer-facing anti-abuse engines.
  • Culture & Ownership ("You Build It, You Own It"): Champion engineering standards and end-to-end accountability for system health, performance, deployment automation, and operational readiness.
  • Business Continuity & Resilience: Architect automation, auto-healing, chaos testing, and CI/CD pipelines to guarantee business continuity and rapid disaster recovery.
  • AI Enablement & Developer Velocity: Drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools and modern software engineering practices to accelerate development velocity and code quality.
  • Data Architecture: Design and optimize large-scale distributed NoSQL, relational, and in-memory data architectures for real-time risk evaluation, pattern matching, and high-frequency lookups.
  • Observability Strategy: Define and implement enterprise-grade observability, telemetry, and alerting for performance, data quality, and security threat monitoring.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and partner with security researchers, data scientists, and leadership to drive long-term strategy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of software development experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.
  • Mastery of Core Java, OOP, multithreading, collections, and exception handling.
  • Experience with Hibernate or JPA for object-relational mapping.
  • Proficient in building RESTful web services and APIs.
  • Expertise in JVM tuning, profiling, and optimizing Java applications.
  • Familiar with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
  • Good understanding of IP networking, BGP, NAT, and TCP/IP.
  • Good understanding of HTTP/HTTPS proxies.
  • Experience building control plane systems, Kubernetes APIs, and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs).
  • Innovative, strong problem-solver with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
