About the role

Apple is seeking a world-class TFT panel design engineer to design, develop and launch next-generation display technologies for Apple products. The role focuses on TFT panel architecture, modeling, simulation, on-panel IC design, automation, and AI-assisted workflows to accelerate design iterations. Collaboration across cross-functional teams and external vendors with opportunities for international travel.

Responsibilities

  • TFT panel architecture scoping and definition
  • TFT device design, modeling, simulation and characteristics measurement
  • Pixel and panel design, layout and parasitic parameter extraction
  • TFT Pixel and panel modeling, characterization, and validation
  • On-panel integrated circuit design, simulation and validation on both rigid and flexible substrates
  • Develop and maintain design automation for panel simulation, characterization, and measurement data analysis
  • Establish simulation methodology and best practices for the panel design team
  • Failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and problem solving
  • New TFT technologies exploration, investigation, and validation
  • International business travel to support project implementation
  • Engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams (TFT process, Display Optics, Touch EE, Display EE, Mechanical Engineering, Display touch)
  • Collaborate with external vendors for display manufacturing
  • Lead and participate in AI-assisted workflows to shorten design iteration

Qualifications

  • BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Hands-on experience creating 2D physical layout in CAD environments (Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Laker, or equivalent) including design rule verification and parasitic RC extraction
  • Hands-on experience performing circuit simulation with a SPICE-class simulator (Spectre, HSPICE, or equivalent) including device model setup and interpretation of results
  • Understanding the basics of TFT, OLED and panel processes
