About the role

Software Engineer to develop a best-in-class real-time search service powering Siri and Apple search products. Focus on ingesting and delivering high-performance backend systems, real-time data ingestion pipelines, and advanced search leveraging machine learning to understand user queries and intents, retrieve and rank documents, and generate rich user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • ingest and deliver exceptional user experiences
  • utilize distributed systems, design and manage real-time data ingestion pipelines, and develop advanced search systems
  • collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to create rich user experiences powered by robust backend systems and machine learning
  • build systems to understand user queries and intents, retrieve and rank documents and generate experiences for users
  • contribute to horizontal efforts in data generation and evaluation

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of industry related experience, working in collaborative environments
  • desire to deliver innovative new experiences and ability to design and build supporting systems
  • experience writing high-performance server software on Linux/Unix
  • proficiency in two of the following languages: C/C++, Go, Python, Java, Scala
  • BS in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Data Science or related field or equivalent work experience
  • experience with realtime ingestion pipelines
  • analyzing search ranking and relevance requirements issues and opportunities
  • building machine-learned models for search relevance ranking, query understanding, and questioning
  • experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX for training and deploying deep learning models
  • experience with RESTful services and supporting production environments
