About the role

IS&T Retail and Marcom Engineering builds and operates the systems and experiences that connect Apple’s products with customers, supporting Apple’s online and physical stores and creative operations. The role involves architecting and leading distributed compute platforms and application services, automating repetitive processes, and ensuring production stability through the software delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify solutions and drive testing and deployment of changes
  • Automate repetitive manual processes
  • Deploy application releases and code from Development into Production
  • Shepherd applications through the software delivery life cycle
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of trends and standard methodologies within Apple
  • Set up and analyze application health metrics and provide solutions to ensure stability
  • Troubleshoot problems and resolve large-scale production issues
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving, planning, documenting, and cross-functional communication

Qualifications

  • Conversational and written English proficiency
  • Strong proficiency in software development using Python, Rust, and/or Java
  • Experience with cloud compute environments (OpenStack, AliCloud, AWS, GCP or Azure)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, CI/CD, and automation
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and debugging skills
  • Comfortable with on-call rotation
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science and 3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in telemetry/monitoring and observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Building and operating container orchestration systems (Docker, Kubernetes, micro-services)
  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering / DevOps
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in UNIX/Linux operating systems
