About the role

Engineer in Apple's IS&T organization (Retail and Marcom Engineering) focused on building and operating systems and experiences that connect Apple’s products with customers. Role emphasizes distributed compute platforms, application services, automation, and end-to-end software delivery across development to production with a strong emphasis on reliability, telemetry, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead distributed compute platforms and application services
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify solutions and deploy changes
  • Automate repetitive manual processes and implement automation to reduce toil
  • Deploy application releases and code from Development into Production
  • Shepherd applications through the software delivery life cycle
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of industry trends and standard methodologies
  • Set up and analyze application health metrics and provide stability solutions
  • Troubleshoot problems and work with team to resolve large-scale production issues
  • Communicate effectively within the team and cross-functionally

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science and 3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in software development using Python, Rust, and/or Java
  • Experience with cloud compute environments (OpenStack, AliCloud, AWS, GCP or Azure)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, CI/CD, and automation
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and debugging skills
  • Comfortable with on-call rotation
  • Conversational and written English proficiency
  • Experience with telemetry/observability tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Building and operating container orchestration systems (Docker, Kubernetes, micro-services)
  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering / DevOps
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in UNIX/Linux Operating Systems
