About the role

Software Engineer role in Apple Services Engineering (ASE) focusing on distributed large-scale data processing systems, AI-enabled workflows, and production-grade data platforms powering Apple TV and related services. Emphasizes real-time streaming, AI/Agentic workflows, LangGraph-powered LLM workflows, and scalable, highly available systems with strong privacy considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build real-time streaming pipelines with Apache Flink processing millions of events per second with sub-second latency.
  • Build intelligent AI Agentic workflows and MCP servers to enable automation and decision-making.
  • Design LangGraph-powered workflows that bring Large Language Models into production-grade data systems.
  • Contribute to scalable, highly available data infrastructure supporting Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and more.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Apple TV and Video teams) to impact customer experiences.
  • Produce architecture and design documents and translate multi-functional requirements into concrete engineering tasks.
  • Uphold Apple's privacy principles in architectural decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining production-grade applications using Java and/or Scala.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems using Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, or Cassandra.
  • Hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, including building MCP Servers, designing Agentic workflows, and integrating Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Good understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated with ability to create architecture and design documents.
  • Ability to translate multi-functional requirements into practical engineering tasks.
