About the role

Apple's Instructional Products team creates Tips app, user guides, and instructional content. The Instructional Designer develops customer-facing materials for products ranging from professional creative apps to consumer productivity tools and emerging platforms, balancing writing craft and content design to structure and present information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design and write instructional content for Apple software, hardware, and services.
  • Analyze user goals to determine what to include, how to sequence it, and what to leave out.
  • Use data to identify gaps, prioritize work, and measure impact.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners to deeply understand the products you're documenting.
  • Manage content across multiple products and release schedules, adapting when priorities or product details change.
  • Incorporate AI tools throughout your workflow — from research and drafting to review and delivery.
  • Evaluate and propose alternative approaches to displaying content when the standard format isn't the right solution.

Qualifications

  • A love for words and language, with strong opinions about style, grammar, tone, and voice.
  • Background in technical writing, instructional design, education, or a related field.
  • Ability to break down complex features or procedures into clear, sequenced steps.
  • Experience using data to make informed content decisions.
  • Able to manage work across multiple concurrent projects with overlapping timelines.
  • Curiosity about AI tools and how they're changing content work.
  • Hands-on experience with productivity or creative software for tasks like document editing, presentations, video and audio production, or graphic design.
  • Experience in information design, UX, or prototyping — thinking about layout, interaction, or format as part of the solution, not just the content.
