About the role

ML Research Engineer focusing on designing experiments and building infrastructure to analyze and improve agentic AI systems across heterogeneous models and hardware, with wide latitude to pursue core research themes and shape future company directions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and run experiments that isolate why agentic systems fail - across behaviour, traces and activations - and turn findings into interventions that move intelligence, cost and reliability
  • Attack one or more core research themes: context and memory management; agent steering, task decomposition and specialisation; continual learning during deployment; and inter-agent communication
  • Build agent analysis and evaluation infrastructure - observability, behaviour analysis, evaluation harnesses, auditing - as durable instruments the whole company works from, not one-off scripts
  • Publish evaluation results, methods and discoveries as company assets and public evidence
  • Work across team boundaries to design systems that run at unprecedented scale at lowest cost and latency; or invent novel model and agent architecture leveraging unconventional silicons beyond GPU

Qualifications

  • Evidence that you can run research of your own: you design experiments that settle open questions and produce usable results
  • Deep hands-on experience with LLMs in agentic settings: multi-step tasks, tool use, long horizons, and failure modes
  • Real experimental discipline: hypotheses, controlled comparisons, ablations, honest uncertainty
  • Strong engineering: capable of coding experiments inside a substantial shared codebase
  • Strong communication skills: translating research findings into actionable guidance and broader write-ups
