About the role

Full Stack Engineer / Software Developer position for Agile Defense supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection, with hybrid onsite/remote work in Ashburn, VA. Active CBP BI or other DHS clearance preferred; role emphasizes secure, production-grade software that integrates with federal pipelines and undergoes federal accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain software across the stack for a government program.
  • Work alongside cloud engineers, automation specialists, and security staff who own the environment your code runs in.
  • Ensure security is integrated into development from the start and that software fits within existing systems and accreditation requirements.
  • Ship software that survives production exposure, integrates with existing pipelines, and adheres to specifications and security practices.
  • Make the codebase understandable and maintainable for future developers; write tests; manage technical debt.
  • Produce documentation and evidence within normal development process to support security/compliance reviews.

Qualifications

  • Active CBP Background Investigation (CBP BI) and EOD strongly preferred; processing possible for candidates without one.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Experience shipping production software in government or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience writing code that passes security reviews and describing changes made for security.
  • Comfort across the full stack (not just frontend or backend).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines as a contributor.
