About the role

AMD internship/co-op program for 2027 Masters students in software engineering. Locations across multiple U.S. sites; full-time role (40 hours/week) in hybrid or onsite environments for spring/summer and other terms. Focus on building and maintaining software applications, training in the full software development lifecycle, automation, debugging, and possible documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assign you responsibilities to work closely with software engineers to build and maintain software applications.
  • Provide training on the full software creation process, from design and build to testing and deployment.
  • Encourage you to build scripts that automate parts of the software development process.
  • Help you learn debugging methodologies to investigate root causes of software issues.
  • In certain projects, involve crafting technical/functional documents and reports as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a US-based university in a Master’s degree program majoring in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Knowledge/experience with software engineering concepts, C/C++ and scripting languages (Python, Windows PowerShell, Linux shell script, Perl, Java, JavaScript, UML)
  • Operating systems UNIX/Linux
  • Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Cloud platforms (Azure)
  • Web development frameworks (Django, Rails, Spring Boot)
  • Markup languages (HTML, XML, XSL)
  • Defect tracking, testing, debugging
  • Git, GitHub, Perforce
  • Security technologies (OAuth, SSL, TLS)
  • PC/CPU architecture, Embedded systems, microcontrollers
