About the role

AMD internship/co-op focused on software engineering within the AI ecosystem. Students work full-time (40 hours/week) in hybrid or onsite settings in San Jose or Santa Clara, CA, across Spring/Summer and Summer/Fall terms. Opportunities include hands-on software development, training across the software lifecycle, scripting automation, debugging practices, and possible documentation work.

Responsibilities

  • Assign you responsibilities in which you will work closely with our software engineers to build and maintain our software applications.
  • Provide training on the full software creation process, from design and build to testing and deployment.
  • Encourage you to build scripts that automate some of our software development process.
  • Help you learn debugging methodologies to investigate the root cause of software issues.
  • In certain projects we may have your involvement in crafting technical/functional documents and reports as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a US based University in a Master’s degree program majoring in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Knowledge / experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) encouraged to apply: Software engineering concepts, C/C++ programming and scripting languages (Python, Windows PowerShell, Linux shell script, Perl, Java, Javascript, UML), UNIX/Linux OS, Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB), Cloud platforms (Azure), Web development frameworks (Django, Rails, Spring Boot), Markup languages (HTML, XML, XSL), Defect tracking, testing, debugging, Git/Github/Perforce, Security technologies (OAuth, SSL, TLS), PC/CPU architecture, Embedded systems, microcontrollers
