About the role

Apple’s iPad division seeks to grow its System EE team in China. The role owns responsibility for entire products from concept to ship, coordinating with mechanical, software, and module teams to design main logic boards, power conditioning, distribution, and to support NPI activities for market launch. Day-to-day involves electrical design, bringup, debug, validation, factory build support, and cross-functional collaboration. Opportunities exist to explore various technology areas and to specialize over time.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical design, bringup, debug, and validation for iPad products
  • Factory build support
  • Multi-disciplinary collaboration and negotiation across teams
  • Support for NPI activities to push product to market
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout using Cadence tools or similar
  • PCB bringup and debug including new or custom silicon, using standard EE lab equipment
  • Communicate effectively in English and Chinese (written and verbal)
  • Understand technology and debug problems from system-level to silicon/transistor level
  • Understand design and validation requirements for interfaces such as I2C/SMBus, SPI, JTAG, I2S/TDM, USB, MIPI, PCIe, HDMI, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt, Ethernet, DDR Memory
  • Power design, especially DC-DC design, debug and characterization
  • Automation and data manipulation scripting (Python, Lua, Bash)
  • Data analysis and visualization (Python, Tableau, JMP, R, Matlab)
  • Demonstrate curiosity, creativity, integrity, leadership, collaboration, and a passion for learning

Qualifications

  • BS/MS EE with 3-5+ years overall experience
  • Solid EE fundamentals grounded in E&M physics
  • Experience in circuit design and debug across power, digital, analog, high-speed communications, programmable logic, and/or wireless
  • Exposure to numerical modeling, simulation, and analysis tools (SPICE, 2D/3D solvers, power & signal integrity)
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout with Cadence or similar
  • Experience with PCB bringup and debug including new or custom silicon
  • Proficiency with EE lab equipment: soldering, DMM, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Chinese
