About the role

Internships in RTL Design, RTL Power Optimisation and Physical Design within Apple’s UK GPU team. Locations available in London, St Albans, or Cambridge. Start dates Winter 2026 or Spring/Summer 2027. Applications close mid-October with interviews in October/November.

Responsibilities

  • RTL Design: assist with delivering high quality IP to meet performance, feature, timing, area and power goals; collaborate with Design Engineers and platform architecture, verification and physical design teams; balance energy efficiency and area with schedule and maintainability.
  • RTL Power Optimisation: analyse and optimise power takedown strategies, set targets for future IP, generate power data to drive decisions, innovate power data extraction and reporting methodologies; collaborate with engineers to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Physical Design: work on the physical design of new Apple products including floorplanning, placement and routing; write scripts to automate flows; analyze results and improve key metrics; partner with RTL Design teams to align architecture and physical design.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • End-of-internship return-to-school requirement or internship being the last requirement for graduation.
  • Curiosity about GPU/CPU architecture and micro-architecture.
