About the role

Internships in RTL Design, RTL Power Optimisation, and Physical Design within Apple's UK GPU team. Locations include London, St Albans, or Cambridge. Start dates Winter 2026 or Spring/Summer 2027. Applications close mid-October with interviews in October and November.

Responsibilities

  • RTL Design: assist with delivering high quality IP to meet performance, feature, timing, area and power goals; collaborate with Design Engineers and platform architecture, verification and physical design teams; balance energy efficiency and area with project schedule and maintainability.
  • RTL Power Optimisation: perform power estimation/optimisation for next-generation silicon designs; analyse and optimise power takedown strategies; set targets for future IP; generate power data to drive decisions; innovate and enhance methodologies for power data extraction and reporting; collaborate with engineers.
  • Physical Design: join GPU PD team, participate in physical design of new Apple products; learn ASIC design flow; floorplanning, placement and routing; write scripts to automate flows; analyze results and improve metrics; collaborate with RTL Design teams to align chip architecture with physical design.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • At internship end, must return to school or internship must be last requirement for graduation.
  • Curiosity about GPU/CPU architecture and micro-architecture.

Skills

Required:C/C++Scripting languages (Perl, Python, Ruby)SystemVerilog / Verilog / VHDLInterpersonal and analytical skills
Nice to have:STA and Synthesis
