About the role

Software Engineer in Test on the System Experience Test Engineering team responsible for testing Apple’s operating systems and ensuring quality across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Focus on testing projects such as SpringBoard and Spotlight with a mix of manual and automated testing and continuous integration.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a multi-functional team responsible for projects such as SpringBoard and Spotlight
  • Work closely with software engineers, project managers and other Apple quality teams
  • Provide continuous integration testing to deliver high-quality operating systems
  • Utilize a mix of manual testing supplemented by automated suites
  • Focus on large projects while attending to UI details
  • Develop and execute test plans, assess risk, file bugs, and consolidate bug reports
  • Drive development and deployment of relevant testing tools and infrastructure
  • Triaging problems, prioritizing, and proposing resolutions
  • Independent work, raising issues and taking corrective action

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (two years of related work experience can substitute)
  • Three years of experience as a software engineer
  • Experience writing code in Swift or Objective C to test an API, SDK, or Frameworks
  • Experience writing and triaging automated software tests (unit-tests, regression tests, functional tests, stress tests)
  • Experience developing test plans, assessing risk, filing bugs, and consolidating bug reports
  • Experience driving development and deployment of testing tools and infrastructure
  • Experience with XCTest and Xcode
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and creative problem solver with passion for quality processes
  • Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues and take corrective action
  • Keen eye for detail
