About the role

Accenture Construct is seeking a Construction Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design development, coordination, installation, and commissioning for data center mechanical systems onsite at client locations. The role involves ensuring HVAC, cooling, fire suppression, plumbing, QA/QC/Cx documentation, turnover packages, and compliance with industry standards throughout the construction lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Run all aspects of mechanical design development, coordination, and installation for mechanical plant and equipment on data center projects
  • Oversee the design process and development for data center mechanical systems including HVAC, cooling systems, fire suppression, and plumbing
  • Provide input on mechanical system designs during project planning and contribute to technical documentation and reports
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure mechanical work meets project specifications and quality standards
  • Oversee installation and commissioning of mechanical plant and equipment, including control systems, water treatment systems, HVAC, chillers, CRAC units, cooling towers, and other critical mechanical equipment
  • Conduct regular schedule and progress reviews, providing updates to client teams and stakeholders
  • Oversee diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical system issues during startup and commissioning
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure alignment and smooth project execution, and troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Oversee preparation and maintenance of QA/QC/Cx documentation, including test reports, issue logs, and punch lists
  • Oversee provision of detailed turnover packages for operational teams upon project completion
  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., ASTM, ASME, ASHRAE, AISC)
  • Stay updated on industry trends and share knowledge with the team
  • Onsite at client site to enable delivery and cultivate client relationships
  • Some in-person time for collaboration and relationship building with clients and colleagues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent 4 years of related experience
  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in data center or critical environment
  • 3+ years of senior level construction management or design management experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical design principles, and relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD)
