About the role
Senior Hardware / Software Installation Technician for a US Army IT modernization program. Responsible for field surveys, infrastructure readiness, and installation of hardware/software across CONUS/OCONUS sites, including NIPR/SIPR networks, Wi‑Fi, VoIP, and voice modernization.
Responsibilities
- Perform site surveys and document SSRs (Site Survey Reports) for network and system upgrades.
- Evaluate infrastructure readiness and document requirements for network and system upgrades.
- Oversee installation of hardware and software solutions.
- Mentor fellow technicians and interface with Project Manager, PMO, and Government POCs.
- Adhere to security level access, material handling, and protocols.
- Interpret SOWs, site drawings, and infrastructure diagrams to maintain accurate records of network routes.
Qualifications
- BA/BS with at least 5 years of experience.
- Installation & Maintenance: install, route, and secure fiber optic cabling, racks, ironwork, patch panels, and cable management hardware per TIA/EIA and DoW standards.
- Cabling, Splicing & Termination: fusion splicing, connector termination, and cable preparation for singlemode, multimode fiber and copper cabling.
- Power & Grounding: DC power cable routing, HTAP, equipment grounding.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: OTDR, power meter, and continuity tests; diagnose and repair fiber issues.
- Security & Compliance: adhere to security protocols.
- Documentation: interpret SOWs and diagrams to maintain accurate records.
