About the role

Senior Software Engineer on the RO Performance Team at Waymo, focusing on large-scale metrics pipelines, event clustering, storage, APIs, low-latency orchestration, and visualization to monitor Waymo Driver performance across real-world deployments and simulations.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of the Event Insights sub-team responsible for minting metric events from heavy logs processing pipelines and managing event lifecycle
  • Clustering: develop a dynamic event clustering product to produce low-latency event clusters for rapid understanding of emerging issues during new deployments in simulation or real world
  • Storage & APIs: store and provide queryable event data with consumer APIs (pull/push) and update events via human triage or VLMs
  • Low Latency Orchestration: orchestrate interactions with other Waymo systems for human triage or large VLM inference at low latency
  • Visualization: collaborate with UI teams to deliver event insights to end users for performance understanding

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience, or a quantitative PhD with 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • C++ proficiency
  • Python familiarity
  • SQL familiarity
  • Excited about autonomous driving, Simulation + Eval
