About the role

Summer 2027 paid, full-time co-op focused on hardware development and testing for autonomous aircraft, with mentorship and cross-functional collaboration. Start June 2027 (end date flexible).

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of a project tailored to start date, duration, and location
  • Contribute to the autonomous aircraft development program and its critical path objectives
  • Partner with a senior engineer as mentor for technical input and professional development
  • Examples of projects include: design of circuit boards for a prototype flight computer; design, simulate, and verify high voltage power electronics (>10kW) DC/DC converters and DC/AC inverters; bring-up and validate a new Avionics system; identify bugs and drive fixes; build a test rack for automated test coverage of a flight-critical sub-system; run a HALT campaign to ensure reliability of circuit boards

Qualifications

  • Completed at least the 2nd year of a relevant degree (typically Electrical Engineering)
  • Strong technical fundamentals
  • Experience as part of an engineering team/club
  • Experience with electrical design software and tools (e.g., Altium, KiCAD), oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Demonstrated ownership of project outcomes and delivering exceptional results
  • Strong work ethic, trustworthiness, and teamwork with high standards and kindness
