About the role

Senior Platform Software Engineer to own the foundations of the Data Engineering Platform (DEP) within CDI, guiding end-to-end platform systems, deployment models, and developer tooling. Role involves designing, building, and operating core Go services, defining versioning/immutability, deployment contracts, Kubernetes topology, and driving operational excellence and developer experience for a large engineering organization at Apple.

Responsibilities

  • - Design, build, and operate the Go services at the heart of the platform, and shape the declarative interface engineers build against
  • - Own versioning and immutability as a first-class platform concern - immutable artifact publication, signing, semantic versioning across independently released components, and dependency pinning
  • - Define how services ship on the platform: deployment contract, environment promotion model, and Kubernetes topology
  • - Drive operational excellence for a foundational P1 service: SLOs, reliable alerting, release provenance, availability and rollback posture
  • - Own the developer experience - CLI, project scaffolding, APIs, documentation; onboarding and feedback loops
  • - Set technical direction: engineering standards, evaluate technology, mentor engineers, and scale AI-assisted development practices across the team

Qualifications

  • - Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • - 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time building platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing systems
  • - Strong Go, with production backend services and CLI tools experience
  • - Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience (Helm, per-environment configuration, probes, resource strategy, rolling updates, network policy)
  • - Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD pipelines and release engineering including multi-environment promotion and automated rollback
  • - Strong relational database fundamentals (schema design, indexing, transactions, isolation, migrations) in a service you operated
  • - Solid distributed systems fundamentals and concurrent Go programming
  • - Experience owning services in production (on-call, incident response, telemetry, post-incident improvements)
  • - Ability to author reusable skills/agents for AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) and scale practices across a team
