About the role

Apple role focused on developing safety and location features to help users get emergency assistance and aid responders. Involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, engaging with government agencies and public safety entities, and traveling as needed to drive adoption and understanding of safety technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Internally, apply skills to tackle challenging safety problems and work with systems and hardware engineers to define and develop safety technologies and applications (e.g., Enhanced Emergency Data, Emergency SOS via satellite, Location transport technologies like SIP PIDF-LO, NILR and AML, Crash & Fall Detection, Enhanced Safety Alerts).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Apple.
  • Externally partner with Government Agencies, Public Safety Answering Points, Regulators, and industry associations to drive understanding and reach of safety features; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years' cumulative experience in one or more public safety disciplines (e.g., communications, law enforcement, fire, search and rescue, emergency medical services).
  • Experience with PSAP operations in regions including East Asia/Pacific, South and Central America, South Asia (legislative knowledge included).
  • Basic knowledge of cellular networks and their role in emergency response.
  • Strong understanding of public safety systems architecture (voice/text to emergency services, caller location, telecommunicator/dispatcher tools, and data such as Medical ID, telematics).
  • Experience integrating novel technologies into PSAP or field responder operations and educating personnel as part of change management.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Passion for safety technologies; familiarity with GPS/GNSS and public safety/emergency communications standards is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with multi-functional teams.
