About the role

Senior engineer role within Apple Services Engineering (ASE) Security to own and shape software inventory, vulnerability data modeling, and the automation that underpins supply chain risk management at scale. Focus on software composition analysis, vulnerability intelligence, and enabling secure, actionable data for engineering and security leadership across Apple’s services.

Responsibilities

  • Own technical depth across software composition analysis, vulnerability intelligence, and automation at scale.
  • Architectural ownership of parts of the software supply chain risk data model and correlations.
  • Set engineering quality bar for the platform and mentor engineers across teams.
  • Make architectural calls to enable trust and actionable data for engineering teams and security leadership.
  • Work with diverse tools and codebases and be a go-to person for supply chain risk questions (e.g., tracking components, correlating vulnerabilities, end-of-life risk).
  • Contribute to defining secure software development practices in the context of AI-assisted code and dependency choices.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in security software engineering with end-to-end ownership of a system or platform, and hands-on experience in software supply chain security, dependency management and OSS risk.
  • Deep proficiency in Go and strong proficiency in Java, including Go Modules and Maven/Gradle; solid software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with SBOM standards, software composition analysis (SCA) tooling and vulnerability data sources (e.g., NVD, OSV, GitHub Advisories).
  • Track record of technical leadership — driving architecture decisions, setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and communicating tradeoffs to engineers and security leadership.
  • Experience with software delivery pipelines (CI/CD, build systems, release engineering) and cloud/container infrastructure (Kubernetes, AWS or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants or agentic development tools and understanding of AI-specific supply chain risks.
