About the role

Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering organization responsible for Agentic AI and Intelligent Reasoning. Build and orchestrate AI agents, reasoning systems, memory architectures, and orchestration platforms to power Apple’s AI experiences with privacy, reliability, and user trust.

Responsibilities

  • Define the vision, technical strategy, and execution roadmap for Apple's Agentic AI answer & knowledge platform.
  • Lead end-to-end engineering and applied research to build AI agents capable of understanding complex user goals, decomposing multi-intent requests, performing multi-hop reasoning, and synthesizing grounded answers while preserving privacy.
  • Develop state-of-the-art agentic architectures that dynamically orchestrate LLMs, retrieval systems, reasoning engines, planning modules, memory systems, structured knowledge, and external tools.
  • Drive innovations in planning, retrieval orchestration, long-context reasoning, memory management, tool use, agent collaboration, and adaptive execution to improve answer relevance and user satisfaction.
  • Partner with foundation model, retrieval, knowledge, ranking, search, personalization, and product teams to build scalable AI systems with on-device intelligence and Private Cloud Compute while maintaining privacy guarantees.
  • Develop robust evaluation frameworks, simulation environments, safety guardrails, reasoning benchmarks, observability systems, and continuous learning pipelines to measure and improve agent quality.
  • Build and mentor engineering managers and technical leaders, define long-term strategy, and execute ambitious multi-year roadmaps for AI across Apple devices.

Qualifications

  • MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience leading engineering organizations delivering large-scale AI, ML, or distributed systems in production.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex AI platforms from research through production at large scale.
  • Strong experience in large language models, conversational AI, intelligent agents, reasoning systems, or advanced ML platforms.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional organizations and defining long-term technical strategy while executing complex programs.
