About the role

Hands-on leadership role owning the integration, data platform, and AI agent capabilities across Element Science’s enterprise systems, with a focus on connecting Salesforce, billing, clinical, ERP, payer, and other systems; building a governed data and AI foundation on Google Cloud (BigQuery) and Dell Boomi, in a HIPAA/SOC 2/PCI environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise integration architecture and delivery roadmap on Dell Boomi, including phased integrations between Salesforce and billing, clinical, ERP, payer, and contact-center systems.
  • Lead hospital EMR connectivity: design the EMR integration platform and onboard commercial and clinical partners using HL7 v2 and FHIR standards.
  • Build and maintain a documented interface catalog with data-flow, ownership, PHI classification, error handling, monitoring, and SLA definitions for every production interface.
  • Establish integration standards, versioning, environments, change control, testing, logging, alerting, and runbooks that satisfy HIPAA, SOC 2, and 21 CFR Part 11 for validated systems.
  • Design and deliver the enterprise data platform on Google Cloud (BigQuery) with transformation and BI layers, starting with revenue-cycle and commercial reporting.
  • Define and implement data governance for regulated healthcare data (PHI/PCI/GxP), access controls, lineage, retention, data quality monitoring, and audit evidence.
  • Lead master data management for patients, prescribers, accounts, payers, and products; establish sources of truth and stewardship.
  • Deliver trusted dashboards and self-service reporting with Finance, Commercial, Revenue Cycle, and Operations; retire manual spreadsheet reporting.
  • Own the platform and practices for AI agents and internal applications on Google Cloud with a structured development flow.
  • Deliver and operate production AI agents in partnership with business owners (order quality checks, patient/clinic communications; expand to voice workflows and revenue-cycle automation).
  • Evaluate emerging models, agent frameworks, and tooling; run small experiments; adapt stack as needed.
  • Implement AI governance practices: evaluation, human-in-the-loop review, version control for prompts/models, observability, PHI boundaries, and documentation.
  • Contribute to AI governance program and training, including vendor/model assessments and technical standards for data security.
  • Own the IT-managed Google Cloud environment for this domain (IAM, networking, secrets, cost management, backup/recovery, IaC) with IT Operations & Security.
  • Build for auditability from day one: design docs, change records, access reviews, monitoring evidence for HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, PCI, and Part 11 where applicable.
  • Participate in vendor selection and manage day-to-day relationships with integration, data, and AI tooling partners.
  • Lead and mentor a small IT team; set technical standards and governance; communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Translate business problems into a prioritized roadmap; present plans and progress to IT leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years in enterprise integration, data, or application development within an IT organization; 2+ years leading technical staff, contractors, or a technical program end-to-end.
  • Hands-on expertise with an enterprise iPaaS (Dell Boomi strongly preferred; MuleSoft/Workato/Informatica also viable) including production deployment, error handling, and monitoring.
  • Strong Python and SQL; experience building/operating production services on Google Cloud (preferred) or AWS/Azure with willingness to work in GCP.
  • Practical experience building LLM-based applications or agents for production use (orchestration, retrieval, tool use, evaluation, observability).
  • Experience designing data warehouses and analytics platforms (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift) with modern transformation and BI tooling.
  • Experience handling protected health information and regulated data; knowledge of HIPAA safeguards and audit evidence expectations.
  • Demonstrated player-coach capability in a small company: hands-on delivery, directing others, and communicating with non-technical leaders.
