About the role

Apple is looking for a Display Engineer for the development and qualification of Displays for Apple Watch & iPhone products. The role involves working on flat panel displays at both component and system levels, coordinating between system design, display EE, display mechanical, supply base management, and display suppliers to deliver displays from concept to production. The position encompasses cross-functional collaboration across optical, EE, ME, process and panel design teams, conducting display inspection, tracking engineering issues, supporting engineering builds, auditing processes, and driving failure analysis with suppliers and external labs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a focal point between system design team, display EE team, display mechanical team, supply base management team, and display suppliers to deliver displays from concept to production.
  • Perform display inspection and review test results to ensure performance specifications are met (from display quality inspection, system OEMs, and multi-functional groups).
  • Track open engineering issues and drive them to closure to support project needs.
  • Support engineering builds at display and system integration sites.
  • Audit processes and lead factory experiments to address issues.
  • Drive and track failure analysis with suppliers, Apple and external FA labs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across optical, EE, ME, process and panel design expertise.

Qualifications

  • MS or BS in EE or Physics
  • technical experience in optical design and characterization, optical/human visual physics, semiconductor optoelectronics, display technologies, optical sensor technologies, circuits
  • Experience supporting engineering builds at display and system integration sites
  • Experience auditing assembly and test processes, with track record of driving failure analysis with suppliers and external FA labs
  • Excellent project management, communication and collaboration skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Up to 5 years of proven experience in a display-related field (preferred)
  • In-depth understanding of display measurement and performance evaluation, display technologies, display module construction, process development and display systems
