About the role

Lead the evolution from fragmented legacy workflows to a cohesive, intuitive ecosystem, establish a unified look and interaction model, and ensure consistency across multiple teams and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Unified Ecosystem: Build, scale, and maintain a centralized Design System to guarantee a consistent interface across all internal FT financial applications.
  • Frictionless Experience and Usability: Define navigation, layout, and interaction patterns to create a consistent feel across FT applications.
  • User Research and Collaboration: Conduct end-to-end user research (interviews, contextual inquiry, usability validation) with core teams to uncover pain points and inform design decisions.
  • Data Visualization and Simplification: Develop intuitive ways to present complex, data-intensive financial information.
  • Accessibility: Champion accessibility as a core design requirement across FT applications, aligning with Apple’s accessibility standards.
  • System of Efficiency: Create reusable templates for dashboards, reports, intake forms, etc.
  • Prototyping and Wireframing: Use AI-assisted tools to prototype rapidly; produce wireframes, mockups, and specs to ensure consistency.
  • Project Management and Communication: Proactively surface progress, risks, and blockers to leadership with clear mitigation plans.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience with complex concepts and designs through sketches, wireframes, high-fidelity comps, and prototypes using industry-standard tools (Figma) and AI (Claude).
  • Portfolio demonstrating design system work, cross-product UX consistency, and use of rapid AI-assisted prototyping.
  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, HCI or related field
  • Experience designing and shipping a design system used across multiple products (not just a single app) via a component library.
  • Experience in designing dashboards, data-dense interfaces and financial charting.
  • Strong typography, layout, color, and spacing skills with ability to translate brand language into a working system.
  • Pattern-oriented mindset to unify different products solving similar problems.
  • Ability to move between system-level thinking and pixel-level execution.
  • Fluency communicating with engineers and non-design stakeholders; able to discuss specs, behavior, impact and value.
  • Experience working across multiple teams with varying timelines while maintaining consistency.
  • Strong track record of managing up and informing leadership on status and risk, with independent, cross-functional work capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present and defend work to large groups and leadership.
