About the role

Senior architecture-focused engineer responsible for leading mechanical analysis and performance modeling of advanced sensing modules, applying FEA, analytical methods, and tolerance analysis to drive robust, data-driven design decisions for Apple’s sensing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural mechanical analysis and performance modeling of advanced sensing modules.
  • Proactively identify, quantify, and mitigate complex mechanical risks and design trade-offs early in the product development lifecycle through rigorous analytical modeling and simulation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to generate design concepts and quantify performance impacts through analytical models.
  • Clearly articulate complex technical concepts, analysis results, and design recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Drive consensus on optimal architectural solutions, fostering collaborative decision-making.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Deep understanding of advanced mechanical engineering principles (solid mechanics, materials science, heat transfer)
  • Proven experience with data-driven design using statistical analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo, DoE) and tolerance analysis
  • Experience designing for a high-volume production environment; consumer electronics or sensing is a plus
  • Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo) for advanced analytical modeling and simulation workflows
  • Mastery in advanced computational mechanics (FEA) to model multi-physics behaviors (structural, thermal, vibrational, fatigue) relevant to sensing modules
  • Expertise in analytical programming languages such as Python or Matlab for data analysis, scientific computing, simulations, and workflow automation
  • Ability to develop and deploy scalable analytical tools or web applications; strong written and verbal communication for cross-functional alignment and leadership
