About the role

Performance Control Software Engineer responsible for measuring, analyzing, and controlling the relationship between power and performance across Apple silicon. Design and conduct performance experiments, prototype in-kernel performance control algorithms, visualize data, and productize software that manages performance for workloads on Apple devices. Collaborates with cross-functional teams from processor architecture to applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to characterize execution efficiency and the effects of physical constraints such as temperature or current limits.
  • Use empirical methodology to illuminate power–performance tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate with and influence a broad cross-functional audience spanning processor architecture, silicon engineering, system integration, OS development and application software performance evaluation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the measurement and control capabilities of Apple SoCs.
  • Invent new performance control concepts and carry them through prototyping, production implementation and tuning.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar engineering degree.
  • Experience with operating system design and implementation.
  • System level or low level software development experience in C or C++.
