About the role

Senior technical leader to architect and deploy production-scale multimodal ML, focusing on Apple Intelligence technologies and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Role involves ML modeling, prototyping, validation, private learning, and experience with training/adapting LLMs, with emphasis on NLP-Vision intersections and large-scale data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead diverse cross-functional efforts ranging from ML modeling, prototyping, validation and private learning
  • Prototype and incorporate bleeding-edge algorithmic innovations in the context of emerging agentic experiences
  • Interface with large scale modeling & data infrastructure
  • Work with teams managing OS-wide embeddings, personalized RAG, tool calling, context compaction / efficiency & memory systems
  • Collaborate with system engineers to deploy production-scale multimodal ML solutions
  • Partner with hardware, design and product teams to advance Apple Intelligence capabilities

Qualifications

  • PhD with 5+ years experience or MS with equivalent experience in CS/EE or related field with ML focus; or comparable professional experience
  • Hands-on experience training LLMs/adapting pre-trained LLMs for downstream tasks & alignment
  • Modeling experience at the intersection of NLP and Vision
  • Proficiency in ML toolkit of choice (e.g., PyTorch)
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Demonstrated research contributions via publications in top-tier conferences or open source contributions
  • Experience building & deploying Multimodal-LLMs
  • Familiarity with distributed training and large-scale data infrastructure
