About the role

Siri language engineering role focused on Finnish customers. You will lead end-to-end ML/GenAI initiatives for Global Siri, applying ML/NLP techniques, working with LLMs, data experiments, and scalable software to deliver personalized, culturally relevant Finnish user experiences. You will act as the technical anchor for the Finnish market, collaborating with partner teams to design and implement large-scale ML and GenAI solutions that enhance customer experience across Apple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead work streams to design and implement large-scale ML and GenAI solutions for Finnish market
  • Develop end-to-end systems across ML, data, and software engineering to improve Siri for Finnish users
  • Leverage LLMs, agentic approaches, and data-generation methods for real-world deployments
  • Collaborate with partner teams across Apple to account for international market nuances and native Finnish user experience
  • Provide architectural proposals and technical guidance for production-ready solutions
  • Work on data experiments, model adaptation across languages and markets, and evaluation of results

Qualifications

  • Professional-level fluency in Finnish, with deep familiarity with Finnish culture and idiom
  • Experience applying machine learning and NLP to product development with solid ML concepts
  • Strong software design and programming skills across multiple paradigms; experience with large production codebases
  • Experience working with data at scale: building/curating datasets, analyzing results, data-driven decisions
  • Hands-on experience with large language models: fine-tuning, prompt/context engineering, evaluation, inference optimization; familiarity with agentic systems, tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation
  • Experience with speech technologies (ASR, TTS, pronunciation modeling)
  • Experience adapting models/products across languages and markets (multilingual/cross-lingual modeling, transfer learning, low-resource settings)
  • Ability to formulate research problems, design experiments, implement and communicate solutions
  • Product focus with strong emphasis on end-user experience
  • Experience writing software in Python, Swift, Objective-C, C++, or C; Apple platform experience preferred
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
