About the role

Mechanical Engineer role in Apple’s Display Technologies group to design and develop innovative display modules for future products, owning integration of mechanical design with cross-functional teams, driving issues to closure, and supporting product through development, ramp, and launch.

Responsibilities

  • Define the module mechanical architecture based on optical, electrical, mechanical, and cross-functional requirements; define interface to the product including fit, assembly features, and tolerance analyses and deliver specifications including 3D/2D.
  • Support the product through engineering development, mass-production ramp-up, and launch.
  • Achieve system goals through mechanical design optimization, prototyping, new material qualification, and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct factory audits to review manufacturing and assembly at each step to ensure high yield and quality.
  • Define and implement validation plans for ME characteristics of the display modules using scientific and analytical approaches; drive detailed failure analyses for issues to reach robust corrective actions; ensure specifications are met throughout the supply chain; communicate validation results to peers and leadership.
  • Travel internationally (~15%, primarily Asia).

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, and thermodynamics.
  • Experience leading mechanical design & validation.
  • 3D/2D software experience: 3D modeling (Pro/E, NX, CATIA, or Solidworks).
  • Experience with diverse manufacturing techniques and materials.
  • Failure analysis experience.
