About the role

Forward-Deployed AI Engineer — Enterprise AI at Turing, based in New York City, with 8+ years of experience and a base salary of $200,000–$250,000 plus equity. In-office role (3–5 days/week depending on client requirements) focused on delivering production AI solutions for enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

  • Find the Problem Worth Solving: Work directly with customers to translate complex business needs into clear technical direction and identify high-value opportunities.
  • Build Beyond the Frontier: Architect and build production AI systems including multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool use, context engineering, memory/state, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and distributed systems for scale.
  • Own the Outcome: Lead solutions from discovery through deployment, owning evaluation, observability, security, reliability, latency, scalability, and cost.

Qualifications

  • Typically 8+ years building and operating sophisticated software systems, with expertise in Python, backend systems, APIs, databases, distributed systems, system design, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Hands-on agentic AI experience with production LLM and agent systems using orchestration, tool use, context engineering, memory/state, retrieval, and multi-step workflows.
  • End-to-end systems ownership from architecture through deployment and scale, with knowledge of evaluation, observability, reliability, security, guardrails, latency, scalability, and cost.
  • Exceptional customer and technical leadership; ability to earn trust quickly and communicate with senior engineers and business executives.
  • Client-ready communication and ability to explain technical concepts clearly under pressure.
