Founding Engineer
About the role
Founding engineer role at Mesmer, an AI-centric startup enabling a small engineering team to work at 100x scale. The position involves building product end-to-end, shipping agents, shaping engineering practices, and helping to form the founding team. Based in Berlin, full-time.
Responsibilities
- Ship product end-to-end. From data ingestion pipelines to the interface customers interact with daily. You own features from idea to production.
- Build the agents. Active agents that attach to a pull request, a release or an incident and act on their own. Reflective agents that find patterns across sessions and propose changes for human review.
- Set the engineering bar. Define practices, tooling, and culture enabling a tiny team to operate at 100x.
- Talk to customers. Understand what engineering leaders need and influence the product roadmap.
- Shape the founding team. Help hire the next engineers and set the cultural DNA for the team.
Qualifications
- You've built and shipped products at startups where speed and ownership were non-negotiable.
- You're a strong full-stack engineer who can work on backend infrastructure and frontend when needed.
- You use AI to multiply productivity and have strong opinions about AI in small teams.
