Automated Testing Module Lead
Paris, LausanneFull-timePosted 4w ago
About the role
Senior hands-on technical leadership role responsible for owning Harmattan's scenario-based automated testing for autonomy and flight-software stack, establishing scenario libraries, execution strategy, and interfaces between simulation, SITL/HITL, and CI to achieve fast, reliable validation and close sim-to-real gaps.
Responsibilities
- Take over, structure, and mandate the existing team of four engineers, with a roadmap to scale to around eight by mid-2027.
- Drive the design of a versioned scenario library covering nominal, edge, off-nominal, and contested flight conditions; expand into Monte Carlo and multi-agent testing; mentor a team with no prior simulation experience.
- Establish tests across SITL, HITL, and CI; define gating policies, telemetry capture, deterministic replay, and coverage analytics.
- Negotiate and maintain strong, written technical boundaries with Tooling and co-ownership splits with Validation.
- Correlate simulation models against real flight data to continuously measure and close the sim-to-real gap; ensure test gates reflect real-world flight readiness.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in automated testing, simulation-based validation, or test engineering for complex physical / hardware-in-the-loop systems (e.g., Autonomous Driving, Aerospace, Defense, Robotics).
- Hands-on experience designing scenario-based test suites on a simulation platform and defining coverage to catch defects.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, Linux, Docker, and CI environments; deep domain expertise in scenario design, SITL/HITL execution, and simulation tools.
- Proven ability to lead and manage distributed engineers (Paris and Lausanne), including senior engineers.
- Rigorous, analytical validation mindset for noisy metrics, false positives, and flaky test environments.
- Track record of defining and maintaining interfaces with platform providers and internal customer teams.
- Bonus: background in defense/aerospace flight software, control systems, or experience closing sim-to-real fidelity gaps.
- Location: Based in Paris or Lausanne; travel between sites; working-level English.
