About the role

Full stack role focusing on building user-facing surfaces end-to-end for Perplexity’s AI products, with emphasis on AI-driven features, rapid shipping, and working across frontend and backend. Early-career with production coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own a user-facing surface end to end, from interaction and frontend through application logic, APIs, data models, and search/model calls behind them.
  • Ship to production continuously; engineers typically have code in front of users in their first week.
  • Build with AI as a primary tool, using agents and coding models to move faster, and judge when outputs are wrong.
  • Turn ambiguous product ideas into working prototypes, then use real usage data and evals to decide what survives.
  • Raise the quality bar on reliability, latency, and craftsmanship for the surfaces you own.
  • Work directly with designers, PMs, and research engineers, without unnecessary process in between.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of professional software engineering experience, or strong internship track record shipping production code at scale.
  • Strong in at least one backend language (e.g., Python or Go) with experience across services, APIs, and relational data modeling; comfortable on frontend with React and TypeScript.
  • Evidence of building: production work, shipped side projects with actual users, meaningful open-source contributions, hackathon wins, or research turned into working software.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to start building incrementally without a complete spec.
  • Hands-on experience with AI products, with opinions about their rough edges and product implications.
