About the role
Senior Network Engineer role at WarpBuild, responsible for building and operating the datacenter network and edge/infrastructure for a fast, bare-metal CI infrastructure in India (remote). First network engineer on the team with ownership of design, deployment, automation and operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and operate leaf-spine datacenter networks, including the edge and the out-of-band network.
- Run the internet edge: BGP with transit providers and peers, routing security, and DDoS protection.
- Lead new site turn-ups from planning to handover: cabling plans, device staging, validation and acceptance testing.
- Manage network configuration as code, with a source of truth, templates, automated checks and zero-touch provisioning.
- Direct remote hands, cabling vendors, carriers and hardware vendors. Our sites have no on-site staff.
- Build monitoring and alerting for the network. Use the data for capacity planning.
- Work with platform engineers on Linux host networking for our virtualization stack.
- Write the designs, procedures and runbooks that the rest of the team relies on.
- Take part in the on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in network engineering, mostly on production datacenter, cloud or service provider networks.
- Experience building a datacenter or PoP network from the ground up at least once.
- Strong knowledge of BGP, ECMP, leaf-spine fabrics, link aggregation and fast convergence.
- Experience running an internet edge: transit and peering turn-ups, IRR and RPKI, and traffic engineering.
- Production experience with at least one major switching platform, such as Arista, Juniper, Cisco or SONiC.
- Strong automation skills with Python and Ansible or similar tools. Config lives in Git.
- Good knowledge of the physical layer: optics, DAC and fiber cabling, structured cabling and cross-connects.
- Comfort on the Linux command line and a working understanding of the Linux network stack.
- Clear written English. A technician who has never seen the site can follow your procedure.
