About the role

Senior Field Application Engineer leading AMD technical engagement with a strategic Mega Datacenter customer in the San Jose area. Hybrid role combining senior technical authority on the account with management of the FAE team supporting it.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales to drive portfolio expansion – accountable to the Sales Team for moving platforms from evaluation to committed volume deployment
  • Lead and develop the FAE team supporting Meta
  • Influence and support concept, architecture, and implementation of new systems based on AMD datacenter computing technologies
  • Onsite and remote engineering support through the development process, including tools, documentation, test, and debug
  • Coordinate forward looking strategic technical initiatives/investigations
  • Lead performance optimization and competitive analysis efforts
  • Advocate within AMD for new features/technology to meet unique customer needs. Drive customer feedback into AMD business unit and engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent (Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Experience as a senior level engineer (or equivalent technical role) balanced with experience in a customer-facing role
  • Experience in server platform architecture and/or platform development experience
  • Knowledge in cloud computing / benchmarking, high-performance computing, networking, software defined storage and data analytics, databases
  • Expertise in server software ecosystem and familiarity with Linux OS at debug level
  • Experience leading a team of customer-facing engineers
  • Hands on experience in setup and configuration of server systems including software, networking and storage infrastructure, and understanding of server hardware ecosystem at the node, rack and datacenter level
  • Experience in application/workload profiling, tuning and performance assessment and UEFI/platform firmware a plus
  • Experience with FPGA programming/accelerators a plus
