About the role

AMD is seeking a high-calibre software engineer to design and implement embedded firmware for networking products, based in Dublin, Ireland. Role involves collaborating with silicon teams to refine designs, develop high-performance network stacks, and support ASIC/FPGA bring-ups for next-generation networking and embedded solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products
  • Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts
  • Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
  • Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies
  • Participating in new ASIC and FPGA bring ups
  • Debugging/fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
  • Develop technical relationships with peers and partners

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred
  • Proven software experience working at silicon or networking companies
  • Proven commercial experience developing in C / Embedded C
  • Experience of Python and other scripting languages
  • Strong communication skills
  • Hardware/software codesign
  • Ethernet & TCP/IP
  • Embedded systems ideally with experience of system software and device drivers
  • Understanding of server system architectures e.g. PCI-Express
  • Experience of Linux systems
  • Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
